Today I am almost ready to announce my first perfume.
It is going into initial production this weekend, but it will take some time. Did you know that perfume is kind of like wine and cheese and other things, and it needs time to settle down before it is ready to go?
So that’s what I mean by almost ready.
The perfume is called “Let’s Go to the Beach!” and it is inspired by the desire to be away from the city, wandering through the sub-tropical beach landscape. This isn’t a bright and sunny resort beach, but rather a wild and windswept landscape, with citrus fruits and driftwood.
This perfume was made for one of my ballet besties, a lovely human named Cody. She bravely tried out the various iterations of this scent, as it went from a simple citrus accord to a brash cleaning product scent (think Mrs. Meyers Lemon Eucalyptus All-Purpose Cleaner) to a simple and elegant fresh, green, herbal scent with a citrus streak that runs all the way through it (and yes, it’s amazing that I could get a citrus note to hang around longer than a few minutes!)
Top notes of Grapefruit and Neroli, a heart of black pepper, and a soft sandalwood base, but with a lime sparkle all the way down.
