Later today we'll hopefully see ChromeOS 149 start to roll out. In looking into the release I've spotted an interesting upcoming change related to the way ChromeOS releases are numbered.

Don't worry, there's no change to the 4 week release schedule for ChromeOS, but starting with ChromeOS 154 due in October, the ChromeOS release number will look to have skipped a release number as we won't have received a ChromeOS 153. So October will see ChromeOS 154, then 4 weeks later we'll get ChromeOS 156 and so on.
There's a simple and positive reason behind this, it's to align with the new Chrome browser 2-week release cadence. With more frequent major releases of the Chrome browser, ChromeOS releases going out of sync just wouldn't make sense. A simple change allowing ChromeOS deployments to stick to their 4 week schedule and just increase the version number by 2 solves this.
