D’ja ever notice how long we men will stay in places that stopped respecting us.
Jobs.
Friendships.
Even family dynamics.
Not because it’s good. But because we were taught that loyalty is a virtue no matter the cost.
Here’s the part nobody says out loud… Loyalty only works when it goes both ways. When it doesn’t, it turns into quiet self-sacrifice that nobody thanks you for.
A lot of men stay because they remember how things used to be. Or because they don’t want to look like the bad guy for leaving. Or because starting over feels riskier than staying uncomfortable.
But comfort and stability aren’t the same thing.
And neither is loyalty and self-respect.
I’ve been there…
· Staying longer than I should have.
· Waiting for effort to be noticed.
· Waiting for things to “go back to normal.”
What I learned the hard way is this: Organizations and systems don’t reward loyalty. They reward usefulness. And most women do the very same.
And the second your usefulness drops, loyalty is forgotten real fast.
That doesn’t mean become cold or selfish. It means don’t confuse patience with strategy.
And don’t confuse history with future opportunity.
Sometimes the most responsible move a man can make is to reposition himself.
Before resentment sets in.
Before health suffers.
Before confidence erodes.
Real question…Where are you staying loyal to something that hasn’t been loyal to you in return.
And what would change in your life if you started planning your next move instead of hoping this one improves.
Not tomorrow.
Not “someday.”
