I Am Not A Victim.

I Am Not A Victim.

Jul 31, 2026

But the Liberal government wants all of us to behave like one!

imageI am not a victim,
I’m just a Canadian who stills knows the difference.
I do not require emotional counselling because someone put a political flyer in my mailbox.
I usually recycle it like a functioning adult.

I don’t need a support group because someone on the internet disagreed with me.
I’ve discovered an ancient coping mechanism: it’s called logging off.

I am not a new-age victim,
I’m capable of surviving the horrifying trauma of hearing an opinon that wasn’t approved by a university sociology department or government focus group.
I have heard opinions I didn’t like before, I do own a Facebook account.
And yet, somehow, civilization endures.

I do not believe words are violence.
If they were, my Grade 8 gym teacher would’ve been tried in The Hague.
And every hockey arena in Canada would count as an active war zone.

I don’t need a safe space - I’ve got a basement and a garage too.
Nobody talks to me in there anyway, and it’s absolutely glorious!
I am one of those strange people who still thinks reality gets the final vote.
Reality doesn’t care about my feelings, and neither does gravity.
I know this - I’ve tested both!

I do not assume everyone who disagrees with me is hateful.
Sometimes they’re just wrong, sometimes it’s me who is wrong.
It’s called being an adult, which apparently polls lower than outrage these days.

I am not a victim.
I do not believe every inconvenience is oppression.
Hearing “Ladies & gentlemen” over a loudspeaker does not require a recovery plan and emotional support animals. It’s just an announcement.
Apparently I missed the meeting where ordinary language became a hate crime.

Seeing a Christmas Tree in a public building doesn’t erase my existence.
It’s a tree. Since when did seasonal decorations become a human rights violation?

I don’t need the government to protect me from jokes.
If a joke can destroy your worldview I have news for you:
Your worldview arrived pre-destroyed.

I dont need a committee to decide if Humpty Dumpty had unresolved emotional trauma.
For Heaven’s sake the guy fell off a wall!
Some days, people just fall off walls. Accept it and move on already!

Somewhere along the way, emotional maturity became offensive and victimhood became fashionable.
I don’t measure my moral worth by how many causes I can fit into a social media bio.
Some people collect hockey cards. Others collect hashtags.
Only one of those collections appreciates in value.

I also do not think disagreement is violence.
Silence is not violence. Looking confused isn’t violence.
Someone forgetting your birthday is also not violence.
Actual violence is violence!

It’s amazing how peaceful life becomes once you stop treating every disagreement like a forensic crime scene.

I do not expect the world to rearrange itself so I never feel uncomfortable.
Growth begins with discomfort.
Exercise hurts, taxes hurt. Stepping on Lego really hurts.
One of those is entirely avoidable!

I don’t need strangers to validate my existence, I am an adult.
I half expect David Attenborough to narrate, “Here, we observe one of the last functioning adults in it’s natural habitat.”

I am not fragile,
I am not offended for sport,
I am not a victim,
I’m just a Canadian who still knows the difference.

Reality doesn’t need to apologize for existing,
Neither do I, nor should you.
