I feel like the ugly duckling among the Ship 30 for 30 cohort this October.
Here's why:
I am a hobby-writer. I feel like almost everyone is writing about something business-related, and it makes me feel like I'm an alien walking among them.
I struggle with a lot of self-doubt. I love to write. I need to write as a fundamental part of who I am. I struggle, however, with feeling like my views are irrelevant.
My collegiate degree in print journalism is from pre-internet days and feels out of date. (this also feeds into my self-doubt).
Here's how I'm working to reframe my struggles as the Cohort moves into Week Two:
I am releasing my inner voice that's screaming for perfection. Every essay is practice to inspire me to push forward.
I am accepting that I am an off-beat writer. My topics may be more niche than other writers. I don't need to be like everyone else.
I am learning and trying new writing techniques, and that can only help me become a better writer over time.
I will conquer this impostor syndrome and will celebrate that I am putting my voice on the internet.
With time, I know this will develop my confidence.
