I am a hopeless creative, author, entrepreneur, blogger, vlogger, adventure enthusiast, proud father, and eternal wanderer. All that to be said, I am a human in search of purpose with the vision of spreading compassion and love wherever I go.

There are 3 primary ventures through which I (and my family) seek to have a profound effect on the world: (1) our family travel business, Novel Excursion Travel, (2) my writing, ranging from informative non-fiction to blogging to fiction novels, and (3) our dedication to service around the globe.

(1) Novel Excursion Travel

We are an organization built by families for families with the mission of bridging cultures through travel, education, and service. Our goal is to provide free educational content on our blog and YouTube channel that will inspire people to travel to learn, fostering a broader, more inclusive perspective. We hope to expand our YouTube channel by interviewing people and organizations who make a difference in the world (eventually, scaling to a Podcast).

We support the non-profit community monthly with 10% of any profits in our Cause of the Month Program, and provide free resources for people to add purpose to their travels by giving back to the local communities.

(2) Michael Camarillo, the writer

I am a published author in the non-fiction and fiction categories. My non-fiction books support Novel Excursion's mission by supporting educational- and service-oriented travel. I also publish a family travel/lifestyle blog and freelance for various travel brands and entrepreneurs. I'm also on Fiverr!

My fiction books take real-world social and geopolitical issues and give them a platform to be heard. The fictionalized twist in my dystopian series, The Keeper Program, makes these sometimes contentious issues less divisive through entertaining narratives and imaginative future worlds. My goal is to bring people to the table on important issues with fascinating story-telling and encourage open communication.

Each month I donate 10% of my proceeds to a non-profit organization that supports education and reading around the world.

My daughter, Sarah, and I are hoping to co-author a children's book series which will follow her and her brother's (Adrian) travels around the world!

(3) Mindful travel and giving back to the world around us

We travel school (a form of homeschooling) our children as we believe interacting with other cultures is the most transformative experience a kid could have. Everywhere we go, we strive to donate time or resources to a local organization that supports the community. This type of experiential learning can make a large impact on the malleable minds of the next generation.

We hope to help families travel with purpose by providing guidance, resources, and lessons-learned. We also hope to create a community of caring and selfless humans where ideas can be shared and we can work together to make the world a better place, one small act at a time.

Ultimately, our goal is to be global citizens, and to bring you with us on the journey.
