Every morning, we wake to global headlines that weigh like grief. Genocides. Children killed while searching for food. Women, treated as if they were born for one thing alone: to hold babies, to nurture, to give endlessly, in life and in death. And still, that is only one face of the violence we face. Our safety is endangered everywhere in our bodies, in hospitals, in schools, in fields, in offices, in our own homes.
We see the world through media, the thing that was meant to connect us. To help us feel each other’s joy and pain. But what do we see instead? Billionaires trending. Presidents lying. Men in power take up all the space, while the stories of women, children, the innocent and the disappeared are erased, silenced, buried.
And yet here you are once again, “seen.” Not for your freedom. Not for your power. But for your oppression.
For years now, women around the world have been spoken about with pity. Reduced to statistics, headlines, and symbols of suffering. Of gender apartheid. Of silencing. Of systemic abandonment.
But we know: you are more than your tragedy.
We don’t claim to fully understand every injustice endured by women across the globe. We haven’t lived every nightmare. But we know you carry it in your eyes, your bones, your breath. Your days are spent surviving what should never have to be survived. And still, somehow you resist. You dream. You rise.
We talk about you. We cry for you. We write about you, not just in mourning, but in defiance. With courage shaped into purpose. With the fire of a future that will not forget you.
We see you.
The world is not broken by accident; it has been engineered this way.
The system we live under, patriarchy, is a structure built on domination, control, and male supremacy. It rewards greed, glorifies war, and demands obedience from those it deems inferior, specifically, women.
Today, we are witnessing one of its most extreme manifestations: gender apartheid: the systemic erasure and oppression of women under regimes, institutions, and ideologies that see our very existence as a threat. In some places, this means denied education or mobility. In others, it takes the form of economic control, political exclusion, or state-sanctioned violence. But everywhere, it means living in a world that punishes us for being women.
Violence is normalized. Inequality is justified. Power is hoarded by a few, while the rest are told to suffer quietly. This isn’t just a political failure, it’s a spiritual crisis. It’s why the world feels cold, cruel, and chaotic.
But patriarchy is not the natural order. It is a man-made construction. And anything made can be unmade.
That’s where matriarchy rises, not as a mirror of patriarchy, but as its healing opposite.
Matriarchy is not about women ruling over men. It’s about centering values that have been erased: care, wisdom, cooperation, community, balance, protection of life, with women at the forefront of political leadership, decision-making, and the driving force of change.
