I painted the Alstroemeria flower in Zaporizhzhia in 2022.
We had to evacuate from our workplace after receiving information about the occupiers’ plans to target our base. Explosions echoed relentlessly, filling the air with fear and uncertainty.
But amidst the chaos, I was determined to preserve this flower. It was part of a bouquet gifted to me by our soldiers on my birthday—a delicate reminder of life and resilience in a time when both seemed so fragile.
Through every brushstroke, I tried to capture not just the beauty of the Alstroemeria but also the quiet strength it symbolized. It stood as a testament to moments of kindness and hope that managed to bloom even in the darkest times.
