What Tourists Do While Waiting

What Tourists Do While Waiting

Mar 10, 2026

One thing I’ve often noticed while watching tourists in different cities is how many small, empty moments appear during a trip.

Waiting for a tour to start.
Killing time before a train or bus.
Sitting in a café checking the clock before the next plan.

Travel isn’t always constant discovery. Sometimes it’s just… waiting.

This is one of the small ideas behind the Lucky Earth app.

Instead of scrolling social media during those pauses, travellers could spend a few minutes solving a local quiz, completing a small challenge, or discovering an unusual story connected to the place around them.

A simple question might lead you to a nearby street, a historic detail, or a small local business you might otherwise miss.

You earn points, sometimes win a small prize - and then you might actually walk a few streets further to use that prize.

In this way, even the quiet moments of a journey can become part of the adventure.

I’m slowly building more of these quizzes and challenges for different cities.

If you enjoy following this project and want to help me keep developing it, you can support the journey below. Every coffee helps move Lucky Earth forward. ☕🌍
