Is all AI content actually garbage? I'm betting it doesn't have to be 🌍

Jun 20, 2026

You already know the answer is mostly yes. AI has flooded the internet with travel content, and most of it is noise - generic listicles, hallucinated "facts," recycled blog posts that no one verified, written to fill space and chase clicks. You've read them. You've felt that hollow "this didn't actually help me" feeling.

So here's my bet: it doesn't have to be that way. The problem isn't the tool - it's how people use it.

I decided to go the other way.

Lucky Earth uses AI too - but as a tool for rigour, not shortcuts. Every snapshot is cross-checked. Real road distances instead of fake straight-line guesses. Verified public-holiday logic that knows the Battle of the Boyne is a Northern Ireland holiday, not a Scottish one. Honest labels when something is an estimate. I'd rather say "verify this before you book" than pretend the data knows everything.

What I've actually built (all free to use):

🗺️ The Travel Risk & Impact Map - 30-day snapshots for 178 cities: crowds, transport disruptions, weather, public holidays, safety context, accessibility notes.

🏙️ Deep City Hubs with practical, verified planning - like:

  • Barcelona - pickpocket hotspots by district, current strikes, festival crowds

  • Paris - real transport status, neighbourhood logic

  • Valencia - beach-area safety, Fallas timing

  • The Wild Atlantic Way - real driving times, 15 Signature Points with GPS navigation, honest "is this too much to drive?" reality checks

⚡ Trip Check - enter your exact dates and get a focused pressure forecast for your trip.

📱 The Lucky Earth Android app - a different kind of travel companion: real-time risk signals, interactive quizzes and challenges, rewards from local businesses, and the ability to create meetups and events with fellow travellers.

🌱 A Slow Travel philosophy throughout - reducing overtourism, supporting local communities, choosing greener routes, going deeper instead of faster.

I'm improving it every single day. New cities, better accuracy, more honest data. This is a labour of love built by someone who cares about getting it right.

If you're a traveller: use it, lean on it, tell me what's missing. 🧳

If you're a local business — a B&B, a guide, a small tour operator who actually loves your patch of the world - partner with me. I want to put genuine local voices in front of travellers, not faceless chains.

And if you believe in what I'm doing - a coffee helps me keep the lights on, the servers running, and the accuracy obsessive. Every cup means more verified cities, fewer shortcuts, better travel for everyone. ☕

Thank you for reading.

- Olek, Lucky Earth
