Navigating Family Estrangement: They did ...

Navigating Family Estrangement: They didn’t die. So why does it feel like they did?

This is a raw one. I feel it in my circle and I can imagine you have too. The epidemic of division in the world today. Not that it hasn’t been there before, but I see an increase of divisiveness especially in the family unit. That’s the most painfully tender spot to be in.

We often find ourselves trying to protect relationships with those we love most while simultaneously not caving on our deepest convictions.

This requires both courage and gentleness, and sometimes neither of those are accepted by the other person.

In those instances, the agree to disagree stance doesn’t work. Often, anger and frustration directly follow. Then separation.  Not good for any family who once had good intentions. Or any family who truly desires reconciliation.

There are no easy fixes or hard and fast rules that work in every situation, because each individual has their own will and mindset. However, there are approaches to frame interactions in a way that emphasize love and connection, rather than division and proving your point. Picking your battles is also an essential element.

These next few posts will show some solution focused ways to move forward, with the most important relationships in our lives, our families, in hopes of bringing restoration of fellowship.

This is The Marpé Connection.

Marpé means Healing!

The Marpé Connection - a Biblical Journey Towards Healing using the framework of these words-Mind • Awareness • Restoration • Peace • Empowerment

If you can honestly say in your heart of hearts that you agree with the statements below, I believe you are ready for this approach and can benefit from this framework of Solution Focused Ideology.

With this, you choose to look ahead, not behind.

• “I love you more than I love being right. I can choose to keep that first.”

  • “We may never see this the same way, but I don’t want it to stand between us.”

  • “I respect how strongly you feel, even if I see it differently. Our bond matters more to me than winning any disagreement.”

You’ll never be expected to abandon your convictions, accept harmful behavior, or take responsibility for someone else’s actions. It simply means you’ve reached a place where preserving and repairing the relationship matters enough that you’re willing to examine your own part in the conflict and address the other person with an open heart.

I’m excited to take this journey with you! Come back for Step 1.
