Market Zero originally formed as an instrumental project in 2005 by Dallas area native, Joseph (Joey) Owens. After a long pause including several years in various other musical projects, a life altering motorcycle accident and subsequent recovery found him living 100 miles from home in a small East Texas town. With newfound time on his hands, Joey was quickly ready to write, play, and sing music. Throw in a pandemic, a phone call to an old band mate (Justin Casey), and some unique talents, the newly revived Market Zero was reborn as a proper rock ‘n’ roll duo. Meeting exclusively through Zoom meetings and arranging compositions over a cloud drive allows both members to write, record, and share at their leisure. It’s DIY rock in a post-pandemic digital world. The pair released two singles in 2021 ("Lemonade" & " Bad Connections") that hearken back to garage and punk rock sounds from the 60s and 70s. Both tracks gained instant traction in North Texas and have garnered substantial radio play through multiple outlets, including KXT 91.7 FM and DeepEllumRadio.
