PrintVault 0.2.31, and a video of it actually working

Oct 05, 2026

I finally filmed the thing.

Thirty seconds: PrintVault indexing a library, opening a model with its files and settings, finding the duplicates, showing the print log. Then it hands over to Headfit, which builds a head from three tape measurements and paints the clearance onto it so you can see where a helmet bites before you spend eight hours, sometimes three days, printing one.

It's filmed against the demo library, so every model in it is invented. Nothing from anyone's real folder is in the video.

What's new since last time:

0.2.31 adds a Support panel in Settings. The app never actually said anywhere that it's free, that nothing gets uploaded, or who makes it, which is an odd thing to leave out of the one screen people open to find out what a program is doing with their files.

0.2.30 put a link to Headfit in there too, and Headfit moved into its own repo with its first proper release. It had quietly reached version 0.8 without a single one of those versions being visible as a release to anybody.

0.2.29 fixed duplicate detection in two directions at once: it was offering to delete files that were never duplicates, and silently skipping models it should have been checking. Anything with a six letter word in its name, so Dragon, Statue, Helmet, Bottle Opener, was being skipped.

Still free, still GPL-3.0, still no accounts and nothing uploaded. Browser or desktop, Windows, macOS and Linux.

Thanks for the coffees. They do not pay for this, but they do mean somebody is out there using it, which is most of why it keeps getting worked on.
