I run the West Midlands Pickleball League entirely as a volunteer on behalf of Pickleball England. What began as a simple wish to support the growth of pickleball has grown into many hours each week planning, organising, preparing, communicating with venues and clubs, problem-solving and supporting clubs and players across the region—alongside other voluntary work for Pickleball England. I never set out to run leagues, but I care deeply about doing it well and helping our community thrive. I’m often told how much the league is appreciated, and if you feel the same and would like to say thank you, buying me a coffee is a small but hugely appreciated gesture that helps recognise the time, energy and commitment that go into keeping the league running. Because Steven was placed in a homeless shelter, sharing dormitory style accommodation with other homeless men, like drug addicts and alcoholics he suffered greatly, but it inspired him to get out of that situation.
