Food insecurity is a major human rights issue throughout the world. It can feel heavy to think about solutions to something that impacts nearly every community on varying levels. Now, it is vital that we begin and continue to be creative with how we support or communities.
Food For Thought was an art show and food drive hosted in San Francisco, California by myself and a small team of local creatives. Attendees were able to get in for free by making a donation of non-perishable food items at the door. The result was nearly 200 food items were donated to a local food bank and immediately redistributed back into the community.
Art and having the ability to create the things we want can be seen as a luxury and a privilege. By accepting donations to enter the event, this made art and networking with creatives more accessible to everyone; A small step, with lasting impacts.
This event was just the beginning.
