Happy New Year 2026 :)
the Year of the Burning Horse
I hope that the imagery in my woodcut will not turn out to be prophetic (chaos, destruction, etc.) and that the year 2026 will be calm and filled with peace all over the world. That’s what I wish for myself and for you :)
The New Year’s cards (nengajō 年賀状) were made using the mokuhanga technique (Japanese woodblock printing 木版画). They are single-block prints from a hand-carved cherrywood block (which probably only interests other woodcut printmakers ;P). I printed quite a lot of them in various colors and on different kinds of paper.
A lot of New Year’s cards… I’ve already sent them out to friends (at least to those whose addresses I had and whom I managed to remember in time ;P — my memory is… hmm… unreliable). If I forgot anyone, I apologize in advance m(_ _)m
I printed a few extra cards… and since wishes of peace and calm belong to everyone, I’d be happy to send one to you (◕ω◕), of course if you’d like to receive it.
