Easy Ways to Test the Educational Tool
We know teachers are incredibly busy, so we suggest 3 simple ways for you to try The Great Gambit - no stress, no pressure.
Let a Student Volunteer Take the Lead (Our Favorite Option!)
This is hands-down the easiest way to test the game. Find a student volunteer who’s excited to take on a leadership role. They’ll read the instructions, set up the game, and guide their classmates through the play session.
You can offer them a little incentive for their efforts - a good grade, extra credit, or just a shoutout for their initiative. It’s up to you! This approach empowers students and saves you time. Win-win, right?
Test with Your Colleagues
Gather your colleagues for a casual after-work game session with pizza and beer! This is a great way to familiarize yourself with the game’s mechanics while having fun with your team. A history teacher in your group can lead the session. It’s an informal way to get to know the game in a relaxed setting. That's what we did in Anders' school! That was fun!=)
No prior gaming experience is required - ‘The Great Gambit’ plays like a board game, and it’s designed to be simple enough for anyone, even those who aren’t familiar with games, to enjoy. No need to know the history of the pre-WWI period either - The Great Gambit is designed to educate, not test your knowledge. It’s a new way to learn so everyone can participate fully, regardless of their historical background.
Test with Volunteer Students
Alternatively, you can invite your students (who are interested in testing it) to participate in a play session during their free time. This gives you a chance to test the game with your target audience and see how students respond to the interactive format. It’s exactly what we did in Anders’ school, where the students were eager to participate!
You need a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 30 participants to run the session, and if you're in Gothenburg, we can even come to your school to help organize and facilitate the play session.

This license allows you to freely use and share the tool for educational purposes as long as it remains non-commercial. You’re welcome to share the tool with colleagues and use it in classrooms.
