If you've searched this topic more than once, you've ended up on Reddit. It's usually one of the top results, and for good reason, it's honest, anonymous, and full of men saying exactly what they're feeling without the clinical distance of a medical site.
Why Reddit Feels Like It's Helping
It normalizes the problem fast. Reading a thread with two hundred comments from men describing your exact pattern does something a clinical article never will, it makes you feel less alone within minutes. That's genuinely valuable and I don't want to undersell it.
Why It Rarely Fixes Anything
Normalizing a problem isn't the same as solving it. The top comment on a given thread might be genuinely useful CBT-informed advice, or it might be someone's one-off anecdote that worked for them for reasons that don't apply to you. There's no way to tell which from inside the thread, and no sequence connecting one comment to the next. You leave feeling understood and no more equipped than when you arrived.
What Actually Moves the Needle
The mechanism has to be understood first, so you're not randomly trying suggestions. Then the tools need to be practiced in a specific order, regulation before cognitive work, cognitive work before communication, because each stage builds the foundation for the next. That structure doesn't exist in a comment section, by nature of what a comment section is.

Read it for the "I'm not alone" effect, that part is real and worth having. Then get your actual toolkit somewhere structured, built by someone who's already organized the mechanism and sequence, instead of assembling it comment by comment over the next two years the way I did.
