I created this site because I believe the LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment) program is being abused by some employers, which makes it harder for hardworking Canadians to secure even minimum wage jobs to support themselves. At the same time, workers brought in under LMIA are often exploited, facing poor working conditions and unfair treatment. This needs to change to better protect vulnerable workers, as well as Canadians and newcomers who are being taken advantage of by profit-driven employers.

Although LMIA data has been publicly available on government website in csv and xlsx format, most people don't know where to find it or have the time to navigate through complex files. That’s why I created this site—to provide a detailed breakdown to explore this important information.

To help cover the costs of hosting and ongoing development, I’m using "Buy Me a Coffee" to support the project.

Future Goals:

• Provide detailed data for the past few years (2019 onwards), broken down quarterly and yearly.
• Include metrics for different cities, provinces, and occupations over time.
• Offer in-depth analysis to give users a more granular understanding of the data.

What is a Labour Market Impact Assessment?

A Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) is a document that an employer in Canada may need to get before hiring a foreign worker.

A positive LMIA will show that there is a need for a foreign worker to fill the job. It will also show that no Canadian worker or permanent resident is available to do the job. A positive LMIA is sometimes called a confirmation letter.
