I’m sure that most people would agree with me that we learn by doing. But as any teacher knows, and I am a former teacher, you can learn by teaching. If you know you have to face a classroom full of kids, you’d better know what you’re talking about. This requires preparation, a LOT of preparation especially if it’s something you’ve never taught before. You need to read and plan and organize and overlearn.
Running a YouTube channel is almost the same principal. If you want to learn something, make a video and post that video. Why post the video gasp in public?! It’s all about accountability. If you’re going to make that video and post that video for all to see, you are sure going to learn the content.
So far this has worked for me. I wanted to learn Affinity Photo 2 and I knew I wouldn’t learn it if I just said, “I’m going to learn it”. I needed accountability, something to hold my feet to the fire. When I press that screen record button, I have to know what I’m saying. And so far, it’s worked. I’m learning Affinity Photo 2 and have started learning Affinity Designer 2. Now I’m able to work on some of my own photo projects, too. And I hope you are learning along with me.
