An afternoon with Christiane Seufferlein || Aug 26th || Marindin Hall || GU10 3DG || 2-5pm
Please join us for this very special afternoon with Christiane from Berta's flax and one square meter line. Christiane is a passionate flax lover, researcher, hands-on crafts artisan and student at Dublin University for a degree in heritage crafts.
Drawing on years of practical research, Christiane will share the fascinating story of the Berta's Flax project, which began with a single chest of carefully stored flax and has grown into an international community dedicated to keeping flax knowledge alive. She will bring historic linen samples spanning different periods, discuss what these textiles can teach us, and share insights from her research into flax cultivation, processing and Europe's rich linen heritage. Expect an afternoon filled with stories, objects, and discoveries that connect past traditions with today's growing interest in local fibre and heritage crafts.
