Everyone looked at me. I walked over to the consul and there was a crystal in the small draw that had slid open. I wanted to look at it, but, also wanted Pops to hear what his mother had left, so I picked up the crystal for me and waited. There was also a small medallion.

The light scanned all in the space then there was a pause while the memory checked the DNA.
“Thank you, the scan has confirmed all are acceptable, so I am hoping that my family is here, Greenfur DNA has been confirmed. If the side draw has opened then, also present is an outsider, the one who was prophesied, and has been confirmed by the centre.”
Everyone looked at me. I walked over to the consul and there was a crystal in the small draw that had indeed slid open. I wanted to look at it, but, also wanted Pops to hear what his mother had left, so I picked up the crystal for me and waited. There was also a small medallion.
I watched and listened in fascination as a very basic explanation was given to Pops as to how his mother and the elders he knew would come here and be trained and learn secrets of a time long before even them, and their predecessors. It was a story I knew had been mirrored in one way or another around the cosmos billions of times. Civilization getting so far, then something happened sending them back nearly to the beginning again to learn from prior mistakes. Now they, the storytellers were finding out that the fables and stories they had been taught were not stories, but facts. As to me, I it would seem that had already been known about from their library records.
As the shielding rose, I knew exactly what I had to do. I had made the right choice to listen to both crystals before rushing in where angels fear to tread. Now we went in search of the special portal that contained a boat and other things that had been left long ago, specifically for my arrival if it ever happened. I also knew more now about what I was up against, and while I knew deep down that I could do what was needed, there was a part of me that also wished I had help on this one.
The whole challenge meant the entire world on which I found myself, was in fact, in my hands. It was down to me succeeding, in time, that would be the difference to them, of life and death, and me for that matter.
I knew that it was probably nearly dark outside, and that word would need to be got back to the village, or that all those present that could use the trees would need to leave or be trapped here until the sun came up again.
Pops and Digger wouldn’t make it back in safety along the river before dark so they already would have to stay, but, looking at them, I knew they would not leave here as they were already beginning to study the library of crystals which opened the long-forgotten history, that which even to them had been fables of Greenfur with the magical powers of healing, translocation and living in crystal cities; of wars and destruction and the exodus by survivors for a new beginning on a different planet, another dimension of Mu.
