Hi, I’m Ashley — a documentary director and storyteller working across China, the U.S., and beyond.

For the past decade, I’ve been creating films, podcasts, and docu-series through OutChina — a grassroots storytelling platform dedicated to increasing visibility for the Chinese queer community. All of this work has been entirely self-funded.

My practice lives somewhere between documentary and emotional experiment: I’m interested in what happens when real people are placed in intimate, high-stakes situations, and allowed to just… be.

In 2025, I created “LeLaLes: Fluid Love 爱的流动态”, a Chinese lesbian dating show filmed in Chiang Mai. No script. No rules. Just real feelings.

What started as a wild idea turned into a fully independent production — funded by a global community, built with a majority queer crew, and made against all kinds of structural limitations. It’s raw, imperfect, cinematic, and deeply sincere.
