This little mole had been planted, as a seed, in my head for a few months and the fluttering cloud of butterflies, ascending him from the dark, were never an option.
For many years now, family members have been telling me to write and illustrate a picture book, but naturally, I hate being told what to do creatively, like many of my fellow artists, I must arrive at these places myself. Who knew this little underground dweller would be the springboard to arriving at the beginning of this new chapter. So here we are, the story is written and ready for editing, and the illustrations are bubbling away ready to begin. Inspired by the likes of Beatrix Potter, Roald Dahl and Charlie Mackesy, these watercolour illustrations will hold delicacy, whimsical wit, and deep sensitivity for all readers.
This is a story of curiosity, wishful thinking, leaving the proverbial nest, and ultimately, a picture book of understanding the nature and need for belonging.
SUPPORT THIS PROJECT
If you would like to support this project, there are two ways you can do so.
All proceeds will go to towards the eventual publication of this book. This includes, materials, research and time.
1. Buy a print or original artwork. 'Spirited Away' is now available to pre-order, starting for as little as £15 a print.
2. BUY ME A COFFEE
This is a new app used by many creators and podcast users. Buy Me a Coffee is a popular online platform that allows creators, artists, writers, and developers to receive tips, donations, or monthly support from their followers. It offers a simple, casual way to receive support for larger and more ambitious creative projects. It allows fans of my work to support through a one-off "coffees" or a recurring memberships. You can donate as little or as much as you like. Here you will be able to follow the journey, jottings and a diary of my endeavours. I may even make an appearance, if I don't get to camera shy and share my thoughts. Your support, as always, is greatly appreciated and like the butterflies, every little flutter will help lift this project off the ground. Thank you for your time and support.
With love
