Abundance Isn’t What You Think

Abundance Isn’t What You Think

Apr 21, 2025

This space is special to me, and since you’re here, I want to share something personal—something I don’t always talk about publicly.

You’ve probably heard people throw around the phrase “living from abundance.” And while it sounds good, honestly, most of what’s out there on the topic either completely misses the point—or just feels gross. So here’s my take.

I’ve lived through both scarcity and abundance. Not just financially—but mentally, emotionally, spiritually. And the difference isn’t always in the bank account. It’s in the mindset.

There was a season in my business where every decision felt terrifying. Not “kind of stressful,” but like my whole world might fall apart if I got this one thing wrong. I remember standing in my kitchen, staring at the stove, thinking: Don’t burn this dinner. This is the only meal left until the next paycheck. I had multiple babies in diapers, overdue bills, and zero margin—financially or emotionally.

I’d hit “publish” on a post selling something I truly believed could help someone, but deep down, I wasn’t coming from a place of peace. I was coming from panic. I needed that sale. Not to pad my income—just to pay the electric bill.

I’d lay in bed at night with my mind racing: Was it a mistake to hire that person? Should I refund that client just to keep the peace? What if this launch fails? What if I fail—again?

That kind of scarcity eats away at everything. It clouds your thinking. It makes you feel like you’re always behind, always in survival mode, always one step away from losing it all. And maybe hardest of all, it made me close God out of my work. I prayed—but I didn’t trust. I didn’t ask for His help. I didn’t slow down long enough to see where He might actually be teaching me something in the tension.

But over time—and through a lot of refining—I started learning that abundance isn’t about getting “more.” It’s about seeing more. Seeing what I already had as enough. Trusting that God wasn’t punishing me—He was pruning me.

Now listen, I’ll never be the one to pretend like paying bills on time and having food in the fridge isn’t a big deal. It is. That kind of provision makes a massive difference for any family. But I’ve also been in seasons where everything looked fine from the outside—bills paid, income coming in—and yet inside I was still operating from a mindset of fear and not-enoughness.

That’s not abundance either.

Real abundance is believing that whatever I have today—whether that’s a full fridge or a cleared-out pantry, a successful launch or a quiet month—is exactly what I need to be transformed, sanctified, and made whole. It’s trusting that both the blessings and the battles are for my good. That mindset has carried me through some of the darkest moments in life and business.

And that’s what I want to share with you in this space. Not surface-level positivity or toxic hustle culture. Just the raw, redeeming truth that you are never too far gone, too behind, or too broken for God to meet you—and bring abundance right into your present moment.

Thanks for being here. Thank you for believing in the work I do. Your support means more than you know—and it allows me to keep showing up and sharing stories like this from the other side.

With love,
Leah
