The beauty-theme of the previous posts of this page has been incredibly helpful to me in getting back behind the chair.
Yes, I did just that.
I went back to a corporate chain salon - one that I had worked at two other times, over twenty years ago.
It was quite the awakening. I knew that I would need to try and find my own space sooner than later as these types of places are not generally known for offering the best work experience to stylists. (Except for my manager! That woman is a saint!)
I DID find my way out soon enough and am now working out of a cozy space in an assisted living facility, working mostly on seniors, but I do take outside clients as well!
But...
I'm a writer first and foremost.
I have been considering school to help advance my writing career but that's another funding endeavor entirely. (I'm still waiting to hear back from FAFSA.)
In the meantime, I'm still blogging. I'm still writing. Still querying, still self-promoting, and well, it's not exactly lucrative.
One thing that would help me that DOESN'T involve $$$ is reading and following my (free) blogs. Engaging with them helps as well. Facebook engagement helps more than anything, really.
Also following my Kindle-Vellas is helpful. The first ten episodes are ALWAYS free, and I have 13 (so far) on one, and 6, on another. So LOTS of free stuff to read that helps me by simply getting readers!
