Self-Love
Learning to love yourself,
after you’ve spent a lifetime,
listening to ads tell you that your body
does not fit the Barbie mold and
is too big, too small, lumpy, not athletic
not good enough.
Is hard.
Learning to love yourself
means shutting down your inner critic
turning off the ads on TV and the radio.
Silencing the thoughts
that say, “I wish my thighs were smaller”
“I wish my stomach was tighter”
“I wish I was taller”.
“Why can’t I be prettier”
Learning to love yourself
is a revolution of the mind.
It's being kind to yourself.
You need to take the judge
out of the room. So you can
have reverence for the light
you truly are.
Learning to love yourself
means to honor yourself
as a unique and wonderful human being.
We must embrace our flaws and learn from them.
Love those thighs and your stomach too.
It's genetics, baby,
Learning to love yourself
takes practice and a daily ritual
of looking in the bathroom mirror,
meeting your beautiful eyes
and saying I love you.
Damn, girl
You look good!
