Before Titanic became a legend, its crew were ordinary people walking Southamptonâs streets, staying in local boarding houses and drinking in the cityâs pubs before reporting for duty.
In my latest video, I retrace some of their final hours ashoreâfrom the places where crew members lived to The Grapes, where one last drink contributed to several men missing the ship and ultimately saved their lives.
Itâs an incredible Southampton story hiding in plain sight, ending beside the docks from which Titanic began its voyage.
