I was born and raised in South Africa, Cape Town. I studied BSc mathematical sciences for 5 years.
Shortly after final exams, I contracted adhesionatory inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) aka Crohn's disease. Forced to undergo emergency surgery (resection of terminal ilium), my entire young adult life was stolen from me by this dreadful disease. However I refused to give up, and although I was never able to fulfil my dream of becoming a software engineer, I have managed to become a pretty decent database development dilettante, remedial educator, scribe, and volunteer.
Now I'm ready to survive on coffee!
