Laica is here to teach food waste management and entrepeneurship through worm farming. The best part of worm farming is making your own natural organic fertilizer transforming food waste into worm castings. Laica farms Red Wiggler Worms (Eisenia fetida) in Saint Petersburg, Florida. We feed our worms food scraps from local food markets and coffee shops and we do not use any chemicals to treat pests. The worm castings are a soil amendment that is called vermicast and can be compared to results obtained from chemical fertilizers because of how nutritious it is for plant's roots.
The vermicast is:
-high in NPK, calcium and magnesium
-a natural source of macro and micro nutrients
-has humic acids that help reduce soil erosion
-has a structure that promotes water retention and porosity
-soil aeration for healthy plant roots
-it is water soluble.
The nutrients in vermicast are ocean friendly. While chemical fertilizers are not ocean friendly and pollute our Oceans.
We encourage you to trade your bag of soil with chemical fertilizers with worm farming! Make your own clean and natural worm castings to feed your plants natural nutrients and sell it to fellow gardeners!
