There are those who really believe that copying the text of an author is plagiarism, but of many it is a monograph. Fortunately, we know that considerable and committed research is not done by typing keywords in Google and using the commands “Ctrl + C” and “Ctrl + V”.

In order to build a good academic work, there must be originality. For this reason, we have selected 4 golden tips on internet searches that will help in the construction of an authentic academic work.

The Google search engine is undoubtedly a great search tool and occupies an essential place in our processes. So, so that you can take advantage of all that it has to offer, the first step is to focus your thinking on the research topic.

For example: suppose your research is about the contributions of physical exercise to health. To direct attention in this case, highlight the main terms of the topic ("physical exercise" and "health"). Then, focus your search on these concepts and the relationship they maintain.

That way, you get straight to the point and don't waste time on parallel issues and the numerous dispersions of the virtual environment. By focusing on thinking, there are more chances to collect objective data and to process only those that interest us.

On the internet, it is possible to find precious information in academic magazines, blogs (including comments on posts), articles, e-books, among other materials. So, the second step, after reaching your research target, is to organize the results in order of relevance.

Think: “who are the most outstanding experts in the field?”. From there, organize the texts and materials related to these authors. It is worth remembering that there is usually more than one specialist and that there may be divergence of ideas.

Then, analyze the perspectives they present, noting what the points of agreement and disagreement are.

The more you learn about the information brought by leading authors in the area of your research, the more you will be prepared for the third step: start to form your point of view.

Your point of view is what really matters to those who are going to read your academic work. Your reader wants to see what you present as a solution based on the subject, that is, what you propose differently.

Therefore, it is essential to know the proposals previously presented and, then, to elaborate an authorial position.

As a fourth step, during the writing process, make a good argument and make your understanding of the subject clear. For this, take as a base the prominent authors and expose what you consider important: concepts, differences and confluences.

That way, when someone evaluates your production, you will find content that is genuinely yours, thus resulting in a relevant contribution to the subject in question.
