I make my living as a full-time poet. As The Traveling Typist, I write and perform on-demand typewriter poetry all around Chicago & the Midwest. You may have seen me perform typewriter poetry on NBC 5’s Chicago Today!

My book, Prayer Wheel, was published in October 2022 with grant support from the Illinois Arts Council. It was illustrated in collaboration with 11 Chicago-area artists.

Since 2021 I have hosted the Typewriter Lounge, a free community event that encourages Chicagoans of all ages to pursue writing and explore the world of typewriters. I also teach creative (type) writing classes, using these poetic devices to unleash your creativity.

In 2016 I received my MA in linguistics and wrote my thesis about Navajo slam poets' Native language codeswitching. I are currently an MFA student at DePaul’s Creative Writing & Publishing program–for which I received a full-ride scholarship.

I have published their poetry in The Prairie Light Review, QWERTY Quarterly, Outpatient Press, Ghoul Gang, and more. My career has spanned teaching, research, writing, street and stage performance, indigenous language revitalization, and entrepreneurship.
