Today, the Paris Judicial Court has issued a press release (archive) detailing a list of 12 allegations against Telegram. It was announced that a judicial investigation was initiated on July 8, 2024.
This judicial investigation was opened against unnamed individuals on charges of:
Complicity in the administration of an online platform to facilitate illicit transactions in organized crime,
Refusal to provide, upon request of authorized authorities, information necessary for the execution and exploitation of legally authorized interceptions,
Complicity in the possession of images of minors of a pedopornographic nature,
Complicity in the distribution, offering, or provision of images of minors of a pedopornographic nature in organized crime,
Complicity in the acquisition, transport, possession, offering, or sale of narcotic products,
Complicity in the offering, selling, or providing of any equipment, tool, program, or data designed or adapted to affect and access the functioning of an automated data processing system without legitimate reason,
Complicity in organized fraud,
Criminal conspiracy with the aim of committing a crime or an offense punishable by at least 5 years of imprisonment,
Money laundering of crimes or offenses in organized crime,
Providing cryptology services intended to ensure confidentiality functions without proper declaration,
Providing cryptology means that do not exclusively ensure authentication or integrity control functions without prior declaration,
Importation of cryptology means that do not exclusively ensure authentication or integrity control functions without prior declaration.
Pavel Durov is being questioned by investigators. This custody measure has been extended until August 28, 2024.
