Two books. A graduation. A 5K I wasn't racing. And cupcakes that were absolutely not gluten free.

I picked up When Women Were Dragons on Independent Book Store Day at Wildflower Bookshop — because something about a lush green cover and dragons felt right and I wasn't going to overthink it. If you want the full review, it's already waiting for you here. The short version: it piqued my pages, it was a quick read, and I was disappointed in the ending the way you're disappointed when a really good meal is over too fast.

Too Smart for This came from Maegan's Instagram and it has been sitting with me ever since. A year of weekly journal prompts that reminded me I don't start from scratch — I cycle through seasons, and every season is fully mine.

The bites? A girl I've loved since she was small enough to nanny graduated college and I spent the entire party pushing cupcakes on everyone else. Not gluten free. Watching everyone else eat them was basically the same thing. Almost.

The bragging rite is the one I'm still thinking about. I ran a 5K and I wasn't going for pace — I was paying attention to how I felt the whole way through. When I converted my pace on my Garmin I realized I'd finally hit my goal of a mile under 10 minutes. I didn't find it by chasing it. I found it by shifting my perspective and looking at the same number differently.

That one's going in the journal.

Back to my books — there's always another one piquing my pages.
