I believe that the more people connect with nature, the more they will understand, appreciate, and ultimately protect it.
Technology should not distance us from nature, it should help us experience it, learn from it, and care for it better.
I also believe that openness and collaboration are essential for meaningful innovation. The greatest ideas emerge when people, communities, developers, researchers, hobbyists, and businesses build upon each other’s work instead of working in isolation.
That is why I’m dedicating my work to creating an open ecosystem where knowledge, technology, and passion come together to make living ecosystems more accessible for everyone.
This vision is realized through three connected projects.
🌿 Home Ecosystems
Home Ecosystems is an open platform for ecosystem automation.
My goal is to make intelligent automation accessible to everyone, from hobbyists with a single terrarium to botanical gardens, zoos, museums, researchers, and commercial growers.
Rather than creating another closed ecosystem, I want to build a platform that welcomes collaboration.
Developers should be able to build applications and integrations.
Manufacturers should be able to make their products compatible.
Researchers should be able to collect and analyse ecosystem data.
Anyone should be able to contribute ideas, hardware, software, and knowledge to continuously improve the platform.
Because I believe openness creates stronger ecosystems than closed systems ever can.
🖼️ PlantArt Gallery
PlantArt transforms living ecosystems into works of art.
Every installation is inspired by natural habitats and designed to showcase the incredible diversity and beauty of our planet.
By bringing living ecosystems into homes, offices, museums, botanical gardens, and public spaces, I hope to inspire curiosity, appreciation, and conversations about biodiversity and conservation.
In the future, I also believe these living installations can become more than art.
Combined with intelligent automation, they can contribute to education, scientific research, and perhaps even the long-term preservation and cultivation of vulnerable plant species.
🌱 Bjurny
Knowledge grows when it is shared.
Bjurny is my vision for a community-driven platform where enthusiasts, growers, researchers, and experts can document, improve, and share knowledge about plants and ecosystems.
Instead of knowledge remaining scattered across forums and social media, it can become a living, continuously improving resource that benefits everyone.
Bringing ecosystems to life
Although these projects are different, they all pursue the same purpose.
To help more people experience nature.
To help us care better for the plants and animals we keep.
To inspire future generations to value biodiversity.
And to demonstrate that technology, openness, and collaboration can help protect the natural world rather than replace it.
If this vision resonates with you, thank you for helping make it possible.
Kind regards,
Kjell
