First Site Sighting

Sep 15, 2021

Monday 13th September 12.20 pm

All is coming together: the unexpected long leisurely lunch goodbyes, some shorter phone calls and coffee dates. Currency has been converted and covid docs completed. YES to this trip, yes to ascending this mortal coil. AVANTI !!!

This morning I received irrefutable confirmation to urgently suck the marrow from my life and perchance leave a legacy with its bones. (An ex let me know he is leaving his cancer ridden body)

Tuesday 14th September 7.12pm

First day on site! I caught my initial glimpse of Christo's WRAPPED installation from a distance. On my early morning walk to work from the slightly inclined Rue d'Armaille, one of the twelve avenues converging at le Place de l'Etoile (Butte Chaillot) the 50 metre tall monument looked quite small!

I stopped of course, to take this photo from the middle of the carriageway, grateful for the lack of traffic and for the opportunity to let the moment sink in.

My first impression was of the covering blending right in to the grey Parisian sky, there was no hint of luminosity, no blue, no red to be seen 😉

Later on, when the sun came out...it shimmered very differently, perhaps on account of the kilogram of pulverised aluminium embedded in the 25,000 square metres of especially woven cloth? 🤔

More fun facts tomorrow...my yoga practice and sleep calls.

bisous
