Are You Static or Dynamic? Hey there and welcome to Journey Around the Pole, a podcast about my journey into Pole dancing, my book writing process, motivation, performance, mindset issues, inspiration, some perspiration, and hopefully other people's journeys as well, and their creative endeavors. I’m Kitty, and I'm your host. Quick disclaimer, this podcast is for educational and entertainment purposes. If you have any questions about your physical or mental health, please reach out to your healthcare providers. Quick thank you to all of you that listened to the last episode and reached out with comments. Those comments are important to me and help me with new topics so again… gratitude my friends! You rock! I want to piggy back a little bit on a previous episode about success. And really dive into what helps with that success. And from the comments that I’ve received from that episode a theme that appears to emerge is mindset. What kind of mindset do you have to have in order to achieve your version of success? This topic is a of the many topics I cover in my book, training, consultations with organizations and individuals, and integrative performance coaching Do you have a Static/Fixed or Dynamic/Growth Mindset? Is one better than the other? Fixed/Static Mindset Belief that your basic qualities, like intelligence and talent, are fixed traits that cannot be changed. Characteristics: Avoids challenges, Gives up easily, feels threatened by the success of others, Believes that success is based on innate ability rather than effort. Fixed/Static negative thought example: “Why even try” Dynamic or Growth Mindsent: The belief that one’s abilities, intelligence, and talents can be developed over time through dedication, hard work, and perseverance, rather than being fixed traits. Carol Dweck PhD wrote: “mindset fosters a love of learning, a willingness to embrace challenges, and resilience in the face of setbacks, seeing them as opportunities for growth rather than failures” Characteristics: View challenges as opportunities, Embrace constructive feedback, Focus on the process, not the end result. Be inspired by other’s successes. Learn and grow from failures. Always step out of your comfort zone. Believe that talent is ever-improving. If you like what you’re hearing and would like to support my work and research that goes into this podcast and the book writing process, you can buy me a coffee. The link is below in the show notes.
