MORE THAN CONQUERORS

"No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us." ~ROMANS 8:37

Last month we celebrated Easter, a pivotal moment in the Christian faith when Jesus Christ rose from the grave, conquering death itself. But what comes next? Well, let me explain what Jesus' victory over death means for you.

The Heavyweight Championship

Someone once explained that statement in Romans 8:37 by sharing this story: Imagine a scenario where a heavyweight boxer competes for the world championship. He steps into the ring, ready to fight for 15 rounds against another top contender, with a staggering prize of 100 million dollars on the line. As the intense match unfolds, both fighters endure numerous rounds of combat, exchanging blows, shedding blood, and sustaining injuries along the way. Despite the grueling battle, neither boxer is knocked out, and they continue to fight until the final round. Finally, as the contest comes to a close, the referee stands between the two contenders amidst the roaring cheers of the crowd.

After careful deliberation, the decision is made, and the victorious champion is crowned. He defeated his opponent and won the $100 million prize.

Without uttering a single word, the new heavyweight champion of the world staggers to the edge of the ring. Sweat and blood mix on his sideburns as he manages a graceful smile. With a sigh of relief, he hands the check to his wife. "Here, take it," he says softly. "It's all yours!"'

Jesus, The Victor!

As a believer, the same thing happened to you. Jesus Christ faced off against the devil, and Jesus emerged as the victor! He defeated the devil and all his forces. In Colossians 2:15, it says, "And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross." Jesus humiliated the devil and his allies, showing His power over them for all to see. After rising from the dead, Jesus told His disciples, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me" (Matthew 28:18). Then, He turned around and shared that authority with us. So, we are more than conquerors because of Jesus' victory!

We don't need to fight for authority anymore. We don't need to struggle for power. In Jesus Christ, we have everything we need to live peaceful and fulfilled lives on earth. He already won the victory for us. We have the authority to rule on earth like princes and princesses. We just need to realize who we are in Him and what He has given us, and then live accordingly.

Live In His Victory

Yes, there will be times when peace seems elusive, and living a fulfilled life appears unattainable. In such moments, you must anchor yourself in the truth of your identity in Christ. You must remind yourself continually that you are more than a conqueror through Him who loved you. This truth must permeate the core of your being and shape your perspective on life.

Living as more than conquerors requires intentional action. It involves stepping out in faith, walking in obedience to God's will, and embracing His purposes for your life. You must cultivate a mindset of victory, refusing to be defined by your circumstances but rather by the unshakable truth of God's Word.

So that when faced with challenges, you remain steadfast and do not succumb to despair or defeat. Instead, you draw strength from the assurance that Christ has already secured the victory for you. Knowing that you are empowered by His love and equipped with His authority to overcome every obstacle.

Practically, this means trusting in God's promises, seeking His guidance through prayer and His Word, and leaning on the support of fellow believers. It involves choosing faith over fear, hope over despair, and love over bitterness.

I know that's a lot to take in, but here's the bottom line: as believers, we're meant to live out our identity as more than conquerors in every aspect of our lives. Even when things get tough, we can find peace by trusting in Jesus and letting His victory shape our thoughts and actions.

So, keep reminding yourself of this truth and live like you believe it, being confident in the love and authority of our Savior.
