“King Tut Would be Laughing at Us” is a podcast about our misconceptions of ancient Egypt and what it means to love the ancient world as a modern person.

Hello! My name is Amy and I'll be launching a podcast about ancient Egypt in Fall 2019! Like everyone, I fell in love with Egypt as a child, and just like many adults, I never grew out of that love. So I became an Egyptologist, someone who studies ancient Egypt, and I have been fortunate so far to be able to dedicate my life to this work. I began this podcast out of a desire to correct the many misconceptions about ancient Egypt that we have.

Sometimes I think that we, as a society, don’t really believe the Egyptians were real. We know they existed, but we still think of them as fiction!  And if they knew how narrow our view of them was, how little we know about their world, the ancient Egyptians would truly be laughing at us.
