I've been recording, documenting and archiving live underground music in Melbourne since 2002. What began as a hobby has become a life-long obsession.
Melbourne has one of the strongest music scenes in the world and it's important to document it. Whether it's to re-live a great show, or to capture a certain period of a band, or simply to provide a means for people who cannot physically attend the shows to experience them. It's important. And after doing this for so long, it's not just the bands being documented. It's the musicians. The punters. The venues. The scene itself.
I don't do this for likes or subscribers. I do this to create a record of live music.
Over recent years, I've been committed to digitising and sharing recordings from other tapers and collectors as well, ensuring these pieces of history and preserved. VHS, MiniDV, MiniDisc... popular formats now difficult to access without the appropriate equipment.
I've never monetised any of what I do. Again, that's not why I do it. But after recent encouragement from various people, I've decided to set up this donation page.
I will never put any content behind a paywall. I refuse to run ads on my YouTube uploads (outside of a half dozen which otherwise YouTube began running their own ads on!). I'll continue to record and preserve shows and make them available to everyone.
All support received will allow me to devote more time to editing, digitising and sharing these recordings with the world. It will help me with storage costs and equipment maintenance. It's a time- and labour-intensive venture, and the support is greatly appreciated.
Cheers!
