About La Quimera de Gupta
Text, Books, social knowledge
You have come across a project dedicated to popularizing science. Our main goal is to contribute a different, politically engaged perspective on current scientific knowledge.

Science is simply one method of understanding the world; yet, since the very birth of capitalism, it has been intertwined with capital and technology to accelerate the rate of capital accumulation.
Through this humble project, we aim to offer perspectives on scientific facts that break away from this logic. You won't find "Naukas-style" science here 🚫.
✏️ The project comprises a blog 🗒, radio appearances 🎙, podcast production, and the creation and dissemination of graphic and multimedia content regarding the natural environment 📸.
☀️ FUTURE: If things go well, the plan is to open a bookstore in the La Serranía region (Valencian Community, Spain). This aims to help retain the local population and revitalize the cultural scene in one of the most depopulated areas of Spain. The project also includes educational support and potentially a small-scale restoration initiative. Furthermore, we intend to publish a book on the global situation regarding Glyphosate.
The project is led by Álvaro G. Molinero, alongside numerous sporadic collaborations with many people whose contributions we deeply appreciate.
The project has tangential connections to the *El Salto Diario* blog, *La Paradoja de Jevons*, the CNT union, and *Ecologistas en Acción*. This project cannot be fully understood without the work we do—and have done—with those groups.
"La Quimera de Gupta" (Gupta's Chimera) originated from conversations with plant molecular biologist Rubén Sánchez, as well as parallel discussions with members of *La Paradoja de Jevons*. It began as a deeply personal venture that never sought to make a profit. However, over the nearly ten years we have been active, the project has grown, and recently, it has become unsustainable.
We need the areas we have explored sporadically to grow and expand. 👉 That’s why we’re asking you to buy us a coffee
We need to reach a stable monthly income to help cover, at the very least, research costs, monthly investment in second-hand books, the purchase of new books for direct sale, and—most importantly, and perhaps the only thing we really need to GET STARTED ‼️—the rent for the premises in Villar del Arzobispo, which is around €200.
GOALS
Revitalize the region’s cultural life: book presentations, talks, meetings for environmental and social groups, etc.
Affordable cultural access: sales of new books on science and social activism, second-hand book sales, a bookstore subscription option, and a lending service.
Monthly publication of in-depth analyses regarding scientific issues related to conservation, evolution, and other topics of interest.
Participation in radio programs and political or scientific podcasts.
Developing a tutoring program for local students based on the principle of universal access to higher education. Everyone has the right to study.
Publishing a book on the global situation regarding glyphosate.
🎁 If you’re ever traveling through the region, we’ll give you a free book, and you can enjoy a quiet coffee at your local spot in La Serranía.
