Is Emirates adopt best Route for South Africa Flights?

Jan 09, 2024

The minister of tourism has declared a partnership with Middle Eastern airline Emirates as domestic flight capacity remains controlled. The tourism minister said that during a visit to Dubai, two-sided agreements were made with the middle-eastern airline to give it entry to South Africa’s domestic routes while Emirates promotes South Africa abroad. If you want to travel you can also avail of the cheapest Flights from Edinburgh to South Africa with Qatar Airline. The CEO of Emirates, Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Makhtoum said that the airline’s long-term strategy is to grow the tourism business and position the UAE as a destination rather than a hub reliant on passenger journeys. Emirates Airlines is based in Dubai and UAE. The airline is a minor of The Emirates Group, which is completely owned by the government of Dubai's Investment Corporation of Dubai.

Exploring the New Routes:

The minister of tourism said her department observed the partnership as critical in supporting our turnaround plan and rebuilding trust in travel to the ‘Global South. She further noted that it supposes this partnership to boost visitor arrivals and promote travel and incoming traffic to South Africa from key markets across the Emirates network. Emirates will explore opportunities to promote South Africa and inspire travelers to know the richness of attractions the country offers across its network of over 130 destinations.

Promoting Tourism In South Africa:

The South Africa Travel Board, in the meantime, will work with the airline to support tourism trade partners and trip operators across the Emirates’ network to develop and promote routes, announce special packages and promotional giveaways, and encourage incentives, among other marketing advantages.

Emirates airline currently serves South Africa with 26 weekly flights, with double daily services to Johannesburg, daily services to Cape Town, and 5 weekly flights to Durban.

The department of travel whispered that while there had been a worldwide increase in seat capacity, the capacity in South Africa still only makes up approximately 61% of pre-pandemic levels. The price of getting a seat has sky-rocketed while seat accessibility has also become controlled.

In the last year of August, the minister of tourism met with the Airlines Association of Southern Africa following reports linking to shortages of airline seats and the increasing cost of flight tickets. She supposed that the failings of domestic airlines disturb the tourism industry directly and the travel industry is keen to help.

Schedule Flights to South Africa:

The airline will be escalating its schedule to and from Johannesburg with three daily flights from 1 March 2023. Cape Town will be assisted with double daily services starting from 1 February 2023.
