I recently installed Open Interpreter on my Windows machine—and wow, it was not a smooth ride.
While Mac and Linux users get a relatively plug-and-play experience, setting this up on Windows felt like wrestling with a polite but stubborn robot. Here’s what I ran into:
Python version mismatches (why are there always 10 different pythons on Windows?)
PATH variable chaos—
pythonworked, butpipdidn’t (or vice versa 🙃)Package installation errors with dependencies like
rasterio, anthropic, oropen-interpreteritselfPowerShell being... PowerShell. (No offense, but why is everything an execution policy?)
But after hours of debugging, Googling, and re-trying installs like a cursed speedrunner, I finally made it.
And now, I have a working AI coding assistant running locally! 🧠💻
This tool will help me automate complex data analysis for the OpenAI to Z Challenge on Kaggle, where I'm trying to find hidden archaeological sites in the Amazon using AI.
If you'd like to support my journey—or just reward me for surviving Windows setup purgatory—
☕️ a $3 coffee helps a ton!
