Hello internaute,
This is my first post here on buy me a coffee dot com and I'd like to introduce you to my little project. I've been on the internet from the early to mid 90s and I created a BBS after it was cool.
Clearly I've seen a lot and I've witnessed the hope of this medium era to the full on capitalist surveillance nightmare we live today. I don't like this, I don't like the subscriptions, I don't like putting my energy in to combating AI scrapers from stealing every aspect of my life and my server and our planet's resources, and I don't like being held in a GAFAM ecosphere.
One day I just lost it, I'm burnt out from capitalism (which unironically is why this platform exists) and I lost myself in the process. Too tired to be creative, too tired to be productive, too high blood pressure to go touch grass. I felt isolated, moreso that I couldn't afford my basic needs.
Thankfully things have changed, well kind of, I'm still in that constant run to find work and contracts to keep my salary up (hashtag contractor life) . However, I found an outlet to at least force myself to step outside of this and positively (question mark question mark) flow this in to something that is creative.
When I found Hotglue I'm not going to lie I got obsessed, I had to run it on my own server and I had to make it work. Make it work I did, it brought back a nostalgia not the toxic kind, the nostalgia of a feeling there was of opportunity to express myself online.
I'm not going to say my website is haute arte, it's far from the huge effort I put in to stop motion videos back in the day, considering I'm currently running Burn Out v2 it is a good way to keep floating.
This is what oh.mg is all about, doing my thing and helping people do the same for themselves to come off of the platforms, unbound themselves from the platforms and algos, make their own space to say their own thing in a way that they want to.
