teaching & making written art + advocating for justice
Hello there!
I'm a creative writing teacher, and progressive policy advocate on hiatus.
Informed by communities targeted by policy, I advocate for social and economic justice. I focus on the intersection of race, immigration, labor, and gender-based violence. My recent research has been on policies and legislation that creates/perpetuates houselessness.
In my writerly time, I seek — and help other writers seek — possibility and voice through story. I do this through publishing my work (which is rarely paid), teaching classes, and sending a free (roughly) seasonal newsletter with prompts and resources.
I do what I do out of pure love for my community. If you see yourself in any of my work, then my work is for you!
It has recently been brought to my attention that the only way we can get to a more socially conscious and just world is if we not only give care, but also stay open to receiving care. To honor this, I am staying open to receiving your care. So, if I've provided care to you in some way and you'd like to reciprocate, you can buy me a coffee! Completely optional and not expected, but very much appreciated.
Thank you for being in community with me <3
