About Kay Walten
travel stories, memoir, and the ones I probably shouldn't tell
I'm Kay. I've spent 35 years in hospitality and tourism. I started one of the first online travel businesses in the Riviera Maya from a dirt road in 1996, ran it for 27 years, and spent more time than I should admit in underwater caves. Now I write about it. The places, the businesses, the people, and the stories I probably shouldn't tell but do anyway.
Two Substacks: Duct Tape & Wire Ties is the memoir. Destination Sunday is reported travel writing. This page is for people who want to kick something in without signing up for anything.
If something I wrote made you think, laugh, or feel like someone finally said the thing, buy me a coffee. Or a margarita. It keeps me on the road and writing.
