About Kat Devitt
Author of Gothic Things
Blasting Green Day, The All-American Rejects, and The Goo Goo Dolls into my ears, I have devoured Gothic fiction, suspense, and romance novels to the same soundtrack since I was a teenager. I have always found listening to music an essential ingredient for my reading and writing pursuits.
Following those angsty, brooding years, my Gothic historical romance novel manuscript, WHEN A LADY KEEPS A SECRET, was selected for the 2023-2024 SmoochPit Mentorship Program. I am a Pushcart Prize nominee, Best of the Net nominee, and placed as a runner-up in OPQ Press’s 2019 Spooky Samhain Contest.
My short stories have appeared in Books ‘N Pieces Magazine, Suspense Magazine, Bold + Italic, and other venues. Other stories have appeared in anthologies with Running Wild Press and Unsettling Reads, Inc. One of my more successful stories, “The Scent of Lavender,” was performed on the podcast, Tales to Terrify (Episode 441).
Currently, Kat is working on a Gothic horror novel mixing legends, folklore, and personal experience. If The Picture of Dorian Gray and Wuthering Heights had a baby in the Scottish Highlands, this would be it. For now, this project has been dubbed ONLY MONSTERS LIVE HERE.
My deep love for reading and writing has been worth the hearing loss my dad said I would have from cranking my music too loudly.
