I have spent the last 10 years exploring the field of severe trauma and dissociation. And what has been offered as help and support. A lot of it I have tried out myself and have had to modify and/or rebuild for it to work for me, like mindfulness e.g.
Join me for a webinar on the different ways to see trauma and dissociation, and what I have come up with to help and support myself, as well as others. With the focus on presenting the Wheel of Wholeness and explore how it can be used.
…
In 2019 I developed an alternative model to the Window of Tolerance (WoT) and the Polyvagal Ladder (PL), because they were both too inflexible to be useful to me. I needed a model that took feeling several things at once, coinciding stress and trauma responses and parallelly present self-states, that is, a model that took multiplicity (or plurality) into account, together with taking trauma induced dissociation (TID) into account, covering the whole spectrum of it.
I called my model “The Wheel of Tolerance” but am now renaming it the “Wheel of Wholeness”. I am inspired to the name change by a model Cathy Malchiodi, who is an expressive arts therapists, author and educator, came up with, also in response to the WoT, a model she calls the Cricle of Capacity. Her idea is that we should focus on expanding our capacity for joy, resilience, and embodiment rather than just managing our tolerance to stress, coping with our trauma responses and just becoming more resilient so we can face and tolerate our hard emotions.
In the same spirit and with similar intentions, I am also wishing for people to not only become more tolerant and resilient to their experienced consequences from stress and trauma. And my model has always dealt with the whole spectrum of emotions anyways and has always been about expanding your joy of life, not only to accept and tolerate the hard parts of living.
I have lived with TID my whole life and tried different ways of still having a good life. The models and theories I turned to did not work, and what more, they left me feeling voiceless, choiceless, agentless and not seen, heard and understood.
Join me in this webinar to explore the Wheel of Wholeness and you can use it for yourself, or for others, to understand your own and other’s dissociation.
