After WWII, thousands of Polish soldiers settled in Great Britain. Many of them never returned to Poland because after WWII Poland was under Russian occupation. After returning to Poland, they usually faced death at the hands of communists. They allowed their families to believe that they died during the war just to protect them from persecution by the communists. Most of them left forgotten and alone, and their graves remained abandoned and damage. For over 10 years I have been searching for the stories of deceased Polish heroes in Great Britain and, out of gratitude, I take care of their graves and repair them at my own expense. As of today, I am in charge of 216 forgotten graves of Polish WWII veterans in Manchester and the surrounding area. I also find the families of our heroes who, thanks to my work, many years after the war, learn the truth about the fate of their loved ones and our heroes.
