This is workbook 2 in the "I Read and Understand" series, a workbook with several short reading comprehension tasks designed for students who need practice in reading and connecting text to meaning.
The workbook contains the following tasks: "Who am I?", in which the student reads short sentences about daily routines such as washing, getting dressed, and brushing teeth, and matches them to the correct picture. "Who are they?", in which the student reads sentences about children riding bikes, playing football, jumping on a trampoline, flying a kite, or playing badminton, and places the correct name in the picture. "Which instrument are they playing?", in which the student reads who is playing which instrument and matches names to the correct instrument. A new "Who are they?" task in which the student reads four descriptions of appearance and clothing and must find or draw the correct person. The reading texts "Mina Goes to Bed," which come in two versions, followed by three questions the student must answer in writing or with the help of cut-out pieces. Finally, there is a cut-out sheet with figures and sentences that can be attached with Velcro or glued onto the corresponding pages.
I suggests laminating the pages and using Velcro and a whiteboard pen so that the workbook can be reused. The workbook is well suited for students in grades 1–4, students with reading and writing difficulties, or others who need extra practice in basic reading comprehension, and can be used individually or in small groups. Available in PDF format.
